DV Farm Can't Move Forward, Yet
Since Amazon Smile has gone, donations are even harder to come by.
BARRACKS TALK
This past Saturday, PTSDog (Joaquin Juatai, JJ) and Bo kicked the night off with discussing their internet and technology issues they’ve had this week. A few minutes into the show, they get a cryptic message saying somebody is joining them and, although it wasn’t a shock as to who it was… It was a shock that they weren’t exhausted from the past week enough to come on with the guys! Be sure to listen to the latest episode right here. Don’t forget to subscribe so that you never miss another episode from DV Radio in the future!
DV Farm Can’t Move Forward, Yet
The past few years, the DV Farm has relied on donations from a few different avenues but the biggest contributor(s) that has been removed as of this month is actually an online shopping retailer, Amazon. Amazon recently made public that they were removing “Amazon Smile” as “it did not make the impact they thought it would”, per their article here. Many believed their shopping didn’t make a huge impact but, all told in one year, the quarterly donations amounted to anywhere from $16,000 - $20,000. [Based on estimates of between $4,000 - $5,000 per quarter “payment” from Amazon Smile.]
This doesn’t sound like a lot for many people but as a 501©3 nonprofit that does not [yet] receive any state or federal income and solely relies on donations from the public (up to and including; Facebook fundraisers, fundraisers around the country, donations via DV Farm’s website and social media, etc.) this is a major hit as the DV Farm needs repairs before it can open back up to helping our fellow Veterans. The biggest and most costly of those repairs is the septic system. The entire septic system needs to be redone as a “patch work job” will not sustain and only cost more in the long-run. On top of that, being that the DV Farm septic system was installed MANY years ago, nobody will touch it as it is not up to code.
Basically, the DV Farm needs your help to raise these funds so that we can get these huge repairs finished and open back up IMMEDIATELY. How can you help the DV Farm now the Amazon Smile is no longer around?
A] You can donate directly via the DV Farm website found here.
B] You can purchase DV Farm merchandise [100% profits go to the DV Farm] here.
C] You can donate directly via our “septic system” DonorBox here.
*If, for any reason, any of these links are “broken” or “down” when you go to them, please give 1-7 days and check back. Servers [across the World] have had an influx and issues across the board. These are out of our control but should be back up and running shortly.
The DV Farm will have access to the donations via PayPal, ADAPT, and DonorBox almost immediately. Any merchandise sold will take up to four weeks but you are able to help the DV Farm as well as show your support in public!
